Personal safety and social responsibility

This STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) course module gives basic induction training in safety procedures and accident prevention and familiarizes novice seafarers with employment and working conditions aboard. It is a classroom based course.

 

STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities Course Content:

  • be familiar with emergency procedures
  • work safely aboard
  • understand and execute “standing orders”
  • Respect for rules on maritime pollution
  • importance of good communication on board
  • usefulness of safety drills
  • control and use of safety equipment
  • knowing the rules related to the use of drugs and alcohol
  • understanding of human relationships
